'Jai Jagannath’ Echoes at Udaipur Railway Station as 880 Senior Citizens Leave for Pilgrimage
Udaipur’s Ranapratap Nagar Railway Station echoed with ‘Jai Jagannath’ chants as 880 senior citizens left for a seven-day pilgrimage to Jagannath Puri and Konark under the Devasthan Department’s Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme.
Gvi Network. The Ranapratap Nagar Railway Station in Udaipur came alive with devotional chants of ‘Jai Jagannath’ on Saturday as a special train carrying senior citizens left for a pilgrimage to Jagannath Puri and Konark.
The special train, operated under the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme of the Devasthan Department, departed from Ranapratap Nagar Railway Station at around 2:30 pm. A total of 780 senior citizens from the Udaipur division boarded the train, while another 100 pilgrims joined the journey from Kota’s Sogaria Railway Station later in the evening. With this, the total number of pilgrims reached 880.
The station witnessed an emotional atmosphere as senior citizens bid farewell to their family members before beginning the seven-day pilgrimage.

Two Government Staff Members Deployed in Every Coach
Devasthan Department Assistant Commissioner Jatin Kumar Gandhi said that arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims throughout the journey.
Two government employees have been assigned to each coach to assist the passengers. A doctor and two nursing officers have also been deployed to attend to the medical needs of the senior citizens during the journey.

Documents Verified Before Departure
Selected pilgrims for the 2026-27 pilgrimage scheme were informed about the journey through phone calls and messages. Before boarding the train, passengers were required to carry the hard copy of their online application, a medical certificate, original Jan Aadhaar or Aadhaar card, and two passport-size photographs.
The documents were verified before the pilgrims were allowed to join the journey.

Free Food and Accommodation for Seven Days
Under the pilgrimage scheme, the Devasthan Department has arranged free food and accommodation for seven days for the participating senior citizens.
Pilgrims were advised to carry essential medicines, clothes, personal-use items, necessary cash and other daily-use materials. The department has also made arrangements to ensure that senior citizens receive assistance and medical support throughout the pilgrimage.
